About TWST History The Woodlands Swim Team (TWST) is one of Texas's most established swimming organizations and is recognized for its rich tradition of swimming excellence. Since its inception in 1974, TWST has captured thirty-eight (38) Texas Age Group Swimming (TAGS) Championships in both long and short course through the 2003 short course meet. TWST swimmers have represented the Woodlands at Junior and Senior Nationals, Olympic Trials and at various universities from coast to coast. Along with these appearances, TWST has won one combined, four women's and three men's Junior National titles. TWST swimmers are also found annually in the final lists of Top 16 times and are scattered throughout the age-group's Top 100 all-time lists. Many Gulf, State, Tags, as well as National Records are owned by TWST swimmers. In 2002, The Woodlands Swim Team was ranked 15th in the nation by USA Swimming for long course, based upon a point system for T16 times. TWST is synonymous with fast swimming! Program The TWST coaching staff provides a strong program for swimmers of all ages and abilities. A positive environment, team spirit, supportive parents, and team pride help create a strong family atmosphere which lends itself to a winning tradition at TWST. The swimmers work out at The Woodlands Athletic Club (WAC). This beautiful facility includes an outdoor 9 lane 50 meter pool (25 yards wide) and an indoor 6 lane 25 yard pool. The WAC is also home to the USA National Diving Team which uses the diving pool facilities. Both the outdoor pools were updated in the Fall of 2002. Location The Woodlands Swim Team is located 27 miles north of downtown Houston off of 1-45N. TWST is under the sponsorship of The Woodlands Athletic Club, which is a project of The Woodlands Operating Co. LP . TWST is a member of Gulf Swimming which is one of the five Local Swim Committees (LSC's) in Texas associated with USA Swimming. TWST is also a member of the Texas Swimming Association who administer Texas's state age-group championship meets and the annual All-Star Meet.
